TCC’s Children’s Summer Announces Auditions for ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical’

Tulsa Community College’s Children’s Summer Theatre invites young performers ages 6–17 to audition for the upcoming production of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical.” Based on a novel series, the play is described as a hilarious and heartwarming stage adaptation of the best-selling books by Jeff Kinney.

Auditions will be held at the TCC Southeast Campus – PACE Studio Theatre on June 7 and 8 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Callbacks and new auditioners are scheduled for June 14 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Individuals auditioning are required to prepare 16–32 bars of an up-tempo, contemporary musical theatre song. An accompanist will be provided, and performers must bring sheet music in a three-ring binder, with the start and end of the song marked. Auditioners should also be prepared to read from the script.

The musical brings to life the world of Greg Heffley, an ordinary middle schooler navigating the chaos of friendships, family, and growing up. With catchy songs, laugh-out-loud comedy, and relatable life lessons, this production is perfect for fans of the books – and anyone who’s ever survived middle school!

With over 275 million copies sold worldwide, Jeff Kinney’s “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” has become a global sensation. In this stage adaptation by Orlando Family Stage, all the wit, charm, and comic misadventures of Greg’s journey are vividly brought to life.

“Don’t miss your chance to be part of this high-energy, crowd-pleasing musical experience at Tulsa Community College Children’s Summer Theatre,” said Mark Frank, associate professor/director of theatre in the School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Performances will be held July 24-27 on TCC’s VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education (PACE) Main Stage, 10300 E. 81st St.
