Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is one of the longest running shows in Off Broadway history. The play is a delightful evening that gives new meaning to the phrase, “And now for something completely different!”

Audience members are the guests at the nuptial celebration of Tony Nunzio and Valentina Vitale in all its tacky and hilarious glory. Following the church service is a reception where the audience joins the wedding party and their bickering families for a pasta dinner, champagne toasts, wedding cake, and dancing to the music of Leather and Lace, the reception’s deejay.

According to BroadwayWorld.com, the play originated from a couple, Mark Nasser and Nancy Cassaro (the original Tony and Tina), who were undergraduates at Hofstra University. Both were in the drama department from 1977-1981. They made up these characters and would often improv with each other, acting out the roles of two Italian boyfriend-girlfriends, just for fun. As their professional relationship continued (after moving to New York City after graduating), their characters continued to develop. In 1985, the idea of presenting an interactive wedding, where the audience played the guests, was planned and three performances were completed.

The play is by Artificial Intelligence, was conceived by Nancy Cassaro, and is directed by Bethanie Frank. It is produced with special arrangements with Concord Publishing.

The performance days and times are Nov. 14, 15, and 16at 8 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.at Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus PACE Studio Theatre. Admission is $20 for non-students and $5 for students.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling (918) 595-7777 or by visiting pacetickets.tulsacc.edu/events. Seating is limited. The play does contain adult themes and language and is for mature audiences.
