Tulsa Community College (TCC) Connection invites the public to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Art Deco. The TCC Art Deco Fest is a bright start to the winter holiday season.
The Art Deco Fest will be held at the TCC Metro Campus Student Life Commons area, Room MCSU234, 909 S. Boston Ave., Tulsa, on Dec. 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Tatyana Nyborg, editor at the TCC Connection, the student newspaper, initiated the organization of the Art Deco Fest. Through her social media research, she learned about the Art Deco’s 100th anniversary, where a well-known artist and antiques collector from France shared posts on how the French are celebrating the significant date.
“I discovered that the anniversary was also widely recognized in other European countries, such as Germany, Belgium, Russia, and Latvia, and, in addition, in Los Angeles, New York, and Houston,” she adds.
“I knew that Tulsa had an impressive Art Deco heritage, along with Miami Beach, Fla., New York, Los Angeles, and Buffalo, N.Y., but no special events dedicated to the anniversary were planned here,” Nyborg says. “So, I decided to throw an Art Deco party for the people of Tulsa.”
“The Art Deco Fest has been a four-month-long volunteering project for me, which I enjoy,” she adds.
The festival program includes a presentation on the Art Deco architecture of Tulsa and the Decopolis Tulsa Art Deco Museum. Two exciting contests will offer participants opportunities to win valuable prizes. The first contest is on the Art Deco Fest logo design. Submissions should be sent by Dec. 5, 2025, to tatyana.nyborg@tulsacc.edu.
The second contest is about Art Deco fashion design. Clothes, accessories, and shoes designs created in Art Deco style will be judged, and a winner will be selected during the event. The contest does not have a limit on the choice of materials for the designs.
