Dr. Jerry Goodwin, associate professor of mass communication in the College of Communication, English, and World Languages and an adjunct instructor with the College of Business and Information Technology at Tulsa Community College, was named the Terry Clark Outstanding Mass Communication Educator Award recipient at a statewide conference over the weekend. Goodwin is also the faculty adviser to the award-winning TCC Connection (www.tccconnection.com).
The Oklahoma Speech, Theatre, and Communication Association held its annual convention at the Wes Watkins Center for International Trade Development on the Oklahoma State University – Stillwater campus on Saturday.

The award is named after educator and lecturer Dr. Terry Clark. He was a long-term professor of journalism and mass media at the University of Central Oklahoma. A member of the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame, Clark received lifetime achievement awards from the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the UCO College of Liberal Arts. He has conducted countless workshops on journalism with the Oklahoma Press Association, among other organizations. The award was established in 2018.
Goodwin, in receiving the recognition, said, “It is an honor to be recognized by your peers for the work you have dedicated so much of your life to sharing the excitement and the enthusiasm of one of the greatest professions in the world.”
“The journalism field has been experiencing an evolution in its discipline. New fields, including social media and the introduction of backpack journalism, have revolutionized the business of communications. I am glad to be included in writing the next chapters of this significant change in a subject that touches everyone’s lives.”
