Navigating Tulsa: How TCC Students Can Use Public Transit to Reach All Five Campuses

TCC partners with local public transportation provider MetroLink Tulsa, allowing students to ride the bus not only to all five campuses but throughout the Tulsa area for free.

It is pretty well known that while you are studying at TCC maybe you will have to attend classes at different campuses during the semester. Each campus has its own particularities in classes:

-Metro Campus: Hosts classes in arts, computer, digital media, health sciences, international language, and mass communication/journalism programs.

-Northeast Campus: Is ideal for careers in high-tech business, aerospace, fire and emergency services, or service-focused fields.

-Southeast Campus: Offers studies in sciences, math, business, IT, communications, arts (theatre and music), and more.

-West Campus: Provides courses in veterinary technology, child development, and early childhood education programs.

-Riverside Campus: Hosts Aviation Sciences academic programs, including Professional Pilot, and Air Traffic Control.

Depending on your major and specific course requirements, you may need to travel between different campuses, as specialized programs are not always offered at a single location. For example, if your major is veterinary technology, your main campus will be West Campus, but you may also need to take general education courses such as Composition I and II at the Southeast Campus.

Tulsa has a public transportation system, which goes across all five TCC campuses, and can be helpful when your car is broken, your parents are not able to pick you up, or even your carpooling-mate forgot to pass by your house.

Tulsa’s public transportation, operated by Metrolink Tulsa, offers a convenient and effective mobile app called “GoPass.”

Many times, we make excuses for not going to college. It affects effectively in our educational learning, or even in our future as citizens.

Here is a quick step-by-step that might help you when you need to travel between campuses:

1. Download the GoPass app from the App Store or Play Store

2. Purchase your tickets:

2a. 3-Hour Pass – unlimited rides for three (3) hours after activation

2b. Day Pass – unlimited rides until 3 a.m.

3c. 7-Day Pass – unlimited rides until 3 a.m., for seven (7) days

3. Activate your ticket

4. Plan your trip

By entering your departure location and destination, a student can see the available lines and the closest bus stop.

5. Reach the bus stop

6. Flash your ticket or TCC ID card, and let’s get moving!

A few tips to keep in mind:

1. Buses are usually on time, but do not panic if they run a couple of minutes late.

2. Not sure where to hop off? Just watch the live map in the app. It will show you exactly where you are and when to get off on what stop.

3. Pack a hoodie! Even in Tulsa’s blazing summer, the AC on the bus can turn it into a mini–ice box.

With the GoPass app and TCC ID in hand, accessing free public transit is a straightforward process that connects you to all four campuses. Do not let a lack of transportation be a barrier to your education. Take advantage of this valuable resource to ensure you can get to class, study, or meet with friends without worrying about the cost of gas or parking.

No more excuses – do not let your chance to be equipped slip away. Education makes our society better and helps us build stronger relationships.
