Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus, 10300 E. 81st St., will hold open auditions for “Heathers: The Musical” on Aug. 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.
This dark comedic rock musical, based on the cult 1989 film, follows high schooler Veronica Sawyer (played by guest artist, Sophia Krist) as she navigates the social battlefield of Westerburg High. After falling in with the ruthless clique known as the Heathers, Veronica meets the mysterious new student J.D. and things spiral into a deadly game of popularity, power, and revenge. With a thrilling score and biting humor, “Heathers” is a wildly entertaining and provocative look at teen angst and toxic conformity.
Auditioners will be asked on the first night (Aug. 25) to do a cold reading from the script for a character of their choosing. They will also have to sing 16–32 bars of a prepared song. Please bring sheet music in a binder with your starting and ending points clearly marked for the accompanist.
Callbacks will be held on Aug. 26, but the staff will also welcome new auditioners on that night. Performance dates are scheduled for Oct. 2–5.
