How to transfer and become an OSU Cowboy

TCC Transfer Guide is a multipart series dedicated to shining a spotlight on different university transfer opportunities available to Tulsa Community College students. The current installment focuses on Oklahoma State University (OSU).

Susan Tolbart, director of Recruitment and Scholarships at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, gives a detailed explanation about opportunities for Tulsa Community College students transferring to OSU.

How many students study and how many degrees does OSU offer?

Oklahoma State University has 20,307 undergraduate students enrolled for the Fall 2020 term on the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses as well as online.  There are a total of 87 majors offered on the Stillwater campus; 18 majors on the OSU-Tulsa currently for students to earn a bachelor’s degree. The university is working toward bringing additional programs to the Tulsa campus.

How would you describe OSU-Tulsa?

OSU-Tulsa is the only branch campus of Oklahoma State University located in downtown Tulsa’s historic Greenwood district.  In Tulsa, junior and senior level courses are offered to help students earn the last two years of their bachelor’s degree in about 20 different majors. These are majors that can be completed entirely in Tulsa.  There are additional majors for which students can take some classes in Tulsa, but the students will need to complete a number of their courses through the Stillwater campus.  Examples include accounting, biology and psychology.  Because program requirements are the same at the Tulsa and Stillwater locations, a student’s diploma will show that his/her degree is from Oklahoma State University. Through the Linked Degree initiative (linkeeddegree.com), TCC students not only receive advising and guidance to help make a smooth transfer to OSU-Tulsa, they can also be connected to OSU-Tulsa services and student organizations to help them build connections before they transfer. In addition to bachelor level courses, students can pursue graduate degrees at OSU-Tulsa. Many of OSU-Tulsa’s courses are offered in the evening, one night a week or in a hybrid format of online and in-person sessions to accommodate the schedules of working students.

2,169 students study at OSU-Tulsa during Fall 2019.

OSU-Tulsa offers 20 bachelor degrees and options available 100% in Tulsa | 11 master’s degrees | 5 doctoral degrees | 9 graduate certificates

How may a TCC student transfer to your university?

For all students planning to transfer to OSU-Tulsa, we recommend that they meet with one of our academic advisors prior to transferring.  This will help students plan in advance for their transfer to OSU.  If students are not able to meet with one of our advisors, we would recommend that they contact one to learn more about the TCC to OSU Transfer Maps.  These documents will list courses that students need to complete at TCC that will transfer to OSU.  Transfer maps for OSU-Tulsa programs can be found at: https://tulsa.okstate.edu/  This page will also connect students to course transfer guides.
