Tulsa Community College Music and Theatre Departments is hosting an open call for “Sister Act, the Musical” on Nov. 20, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Actors are encouraged to audition for roles for February and March performances. Callbacks are scheduled for Nov. 21, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Both the open call and call backs will occur in the PACE Studio Theatre on the TCC Southeast Campus, 10300 E. 81st St.
The auditions will consist of cold reading from the script and singing 16-32 measures of a musical song. We will be casting 15 women and seven men. Please have music in a three-ring binder notebook for the accompanist. Auditions are open to the community and the college.
For the callbacks, an actor should be prepared to dance and to dress appropriately.
The lead roles have been pre-cast and selected. Local vocalist Majeste Pearson will be the guest artist for the production playing Deloris Van Carter, and Mark LeHouiller will play Monsignor O’Hara.
The performances are to be held Feb. 29, March 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. and March 3 and 10 at 2 p.m. at the PACE Studio Theatre.
Sister Act is a musical based on the hit 1992 film of the same name with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner, and additional material by Douglas Carter Beane.
