TCC’s Theatre Camp Presents ‘Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse’

Tulsa Community College’s Tulsa Children’s Summer Theatre Camp, in partnership with the college’s Theatre Department, presents a stage adaptation of the beloved children’s book, “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse,” written by acclaimed author Kevin Henkes and adapted for the stage by Kevin Kling.

The performances are scheduled for TCC’s Southeast Campus VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education (PACE) Studio Theatre, 10300 E. 81st St., on June 12, 13, and 14 at 7 p.m. All performances are presented with special arrangements with HarperCollins Publishers.

The story follows Lilly, a spirited young mouse who adores school and her teacher, Mr. Slinger until she brings her new purple plastic purse to class. Filled with excitement, she disrupts the classroom with her purse that plays music, a pair of movie-star sunglasses, and three shiny quarters. When Mr. Slinger asks her to wait, Lilly becomes angry and behaves in a way she soon regrets. Through her journey, Lilly learns valuable lessons in patience, sharing, cooperation, and forgiveness.

“I invite you to join us for this heartwarming and entertaining production, brought to life by the talented young performers of TCC’s Theatre Camp,” said Mark Frank, associate professor/coordinator of theatre in the School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Tickets are on sale now. Seating is limited to 150 seats per performance. Donations will also be accepted at the door. To purchase tickets, call (918) 595-7777 or visit www.pacetickets.tulsacc.edu/events.
