While college might be stressful for some students, it is also an excellent experience and opportunity to interact with others and form new connections.
The Office of Student Life at Tulsa Community College highly embraces community and campus involvement in order to enhance and deliver the best college experience for students at TCC. Many student organizations support this goal, including the Psi Beta and Psychology Club student organization.

In an interview with the TCC Connection, Psi Beta and Psychology Club President Alex Vazquez, a psychology major, stated that the organization is dedicated to educating students about psychology and supporting the goal of creating a safe space where students can freely express their ideas and opinions about the subject.
“Students majoring in psychology can benefit from Psi Beta membership in two ways: it can help them network with other prospective psychologists and psychiatrists and improve their resume,” Vazquez shared.
Increasing psychological understanding through member-led activities, including seminars, group discussions, and guest speaker sessions on psychology and mental health awareness, is another major goal of the organization.
Jonathan Alvarado, a psychology degree major and a student member of Psi Beta and Psychology Club, said that when he first joined the organization, he was most astonished by the amount of time the group met.
“Psi Beta is very open for communication given the number of events and meetings they have,” Alvarado stated. Alvarado’s favorite activities include learning more about psychology and going to meetings and events that the organization hosts.

Psi Beta and Psychology Club hosted several significant on-campus activities such as an Alzheimer’s awareness event. During the interview, Jonathan Alvarado was thrilled to talk about it. The goal of the program was to help students understand Alzheimer’s disease and how they can address it.
Furthermore, the event explained how Alzheimer’s indications can be recognized and how one can help those who are affected. Such events genuinely demonstrate Psi Beta’s dedication to teaching TCC about real-world issues and giving students the tools they need to make a difference.
Participating in a student organization like Psi Beta and Psychology Club would be an excellent opportunity to get involved on campus, make long-lasting friendships, and develop leadership skills. In fact, being part of a community of common interests makes college life so much more colorful and exciting.
Psi Beta is enthusiastic about its future as it keeps expanding. There will be collaborative events planned that involve the larger TCC community. These activities will show the importance of psychology as well as how teamwork may successfully address concerns about campus wellness and mental health.
Psi Beta and Psychology Club at the college is so much more than a student organization. It is a community aimed at nurturing and enhancing an appreciation of psychology. For any student involved in the study of psychology, being a member of Psi Beta may prove to be a great experience.
Whether your goals are to engage with the community, make new friends, or expand your knowledge, Psi Beta invites you to join this fascinating journey.
