Review: Students Celebrating the Final Bedlam: A Football Rivalry

On the eve of the last Bedlam game between the Oklahoma State University Cowboys and the University of Oklahoma Sooners, Student Life provided tables full of football goodies for students at each TCC campus. Among the items given away were cups, candy, and footballs. The gifts were offered at the low price of turning in your TCC student ID number. For OSU and OU fans, the giveaway is a priceless chance to get into the spirit of college sports in the fall season.

This is the last Bedlam game because both college teams will be in different conferences. So, while the rivalry still lives on, we will not get this iconic annual game in the future. Making this year’s final Bedlam game truly a unique piece of football history as Oklahoma has chosen to leave the Big 12. OSU will remain in the Big 12. OU’s new conference will be the SEC. The SEC includes the following universities: Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisiana State Tigers, Mississippi (Ole Miss) Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, and Vanderbilt Commodores.

The Bedlam rivalry game has been held since 1910. The OSU Cowboys took the night on Nov. 4 with a winning score of 27-24, ending the game in heart-pounding fashion.

Student Life at TCC campuses has numerous giveaways throughout the year that correspond to events happening in the world, such as a celebration of Dia de los Muertos, Spin the Wheel, and national “I Love to Write Day.” Be sure to keep an eye on the events calendar. (Photo by Chase Goza)
